Seawater is rich in 92 minerals and trace elements, and is 175 times more concentrated than thermal water. Due to an identical mineral composition between seawater and physiological body fluids (René Quinton’s theory), there is proven bio-affinity between the sea, its ingredients and the skin, which enables unparalleled assimilation of marine active ingredients. “Blue gold” lies at the heart of the sea: 70,000 algae species, only 40,000 of which have been documented. These intelligent marine plants constantly develop protective and regenerative mechanisms to withstand extreme living conditions. Concentrating up to 10,000 times the minerals found in seawater, algae are real youthfulness-boosting shots for the skin.
Our Laboratory, located on the Côte d'Azur, has a multidisciplinary team of pharmacists, research engineers, chemists, biochemists and microbiologists. Our 2,000 m² industrial site complies with ISO 22176 GMP standards and meets pharmaceutical manufacturing requirements. We register 14 exclusive THALGO active ingredients, 7 patents including a medical one, and study more than 50 active ingredients each year.

We give preference to sourcing in France and the Mediterranean as much as possible because it is a hotspot in terms of marine algae diversity. We select algae from controlled biotechnology or algae harvested in their natural habitat according to the Guide to Good Sustainable Harvesting Practices. These ensure that the algae reproduction period is respected and harvesting areas are controlled (absence of fertilisers and pesticides or other pollutants), but also the conservation of natural resources for sustainable management and assurance of the quality and safety of the extracts harvested.
THALGO formulas all include marine ingredients. 73% of these active ingredients are algae. Sea water, sea salt or marine plants are also used in our formulations. At THALGO, algae can be used in the form of filtrate, oil, powder or macerate. They are particularly valued in our professional treatments through alginate masks, which maximise the penetration of active ingredients.
THALGO formulations are inspired by the sea and allow a truly sun-kissed experience to be enjoyed with every application: refreshing foam, water-based gel, mist spray, water essence, sun-kissed oil, salt scrub, and so on. THALGO’s signature perfumes, mainly developed in Grasse, the world’s perfume capital, are fresh, bright and sophisticated all at once.
A demanding selection of marine active ingredients We choose our active ingredients for their proven power: each key ingredient is first tested in vitro to evaluate its cellular action mechanisms, before being incorporated into the formulas. Formulas tested in real conditions Our products are subsequently evaluated in vivo under dermatological supervision, through usage tests conducted on consumer panels, as well as through objective scientific measurements (hydration, wrinkles, firmness, radiance, and so on), to ensure tangible and measurable results. Objectively-demonstrated protocols in the treatment room Each treatment protocol is subject to objective clinical validation, to prove its efficacy from the first session. This requirement means THALGO ensures treatments that provide both a unique experience for the senses and visible, validated results, while fully respecting the skin.
