Creation of THALGO
by a chemist

Fascinated by the regenerative power of the sea, André Bouclet, a doctor of pharmacy, devoted his research to developing a pioneering process: making the molecules concentrated in the heart of algae assimilable by the skin in their most active form.

In 1964, he created THALGO (a combination of " Thalassotherapy‘ and ’Algae"), the first French laboratory specialising in algae-based treatments for the medical world and thalassotherapy.

1966

Double patent
Micro-crushed algae

To make the molecules concentrated in the heart of algae assimilable by the skin, André Bouclet created two patents:

A patent for an invention:
He has developed a unique technology for micro-bursting the cellulosic wall of algae without grinding. This pulverisation process, carried out in counter-current gas streams, causes collisions between the cells of the algae's outer wall, which then fragments to release the totum of active molecules concentrated by the algae, without degrading them.

A membership card:
Dr Bouclet applies his process to three types of seaweed selected for their mineral composition, which is similar to that of the skin. He obtained an algae powder containing 54 essential elements (minerals, trace elements, antioxidants, vitamins, amino acids and fatty acids).
Micro-fractured seaweed was then prescribed at the time to treat skin, rheumatic and circulatory disorders. Even today, this marine composition remains unrivalled.

1976

Heading for the French Riviera

In order to develop formulas and treatments for thalassotherapy centres and beauty salons, the THALGO Laboratory was established on the French Riviera, in Roquebrune-sur-Argens, in 1976, drawing inspiration from the Mediterranean lifestyle
Just as the sea revitalises the body and mind, THALGO combines effectiveness and well-being
at the heart of every cosmetic and professional treatment.

1999

A new impetus

In 1999, Jean-Claude SIROP, a visionary engineer, acquired THALGO. Under his leadership, the company experienced a new surge in growth.

His son, Bernard SIROP, took over the management of the company in 2004. Within a few years, the family business expanded in France and internationally, becoming the world leader in Professional Marine Cosmetics. In 2023, Marine SIROP, Bernard's daughter, joined the adventure.
